Old Insane Asylum
(or rumored to be)
Florissant, St.louis, Jennings station exit
I
heard of this place from a freind, who heard it from a freind of a freind...
and so on. You know how it goes. The freind of a freind of a freind said
it used to be an old Insane Asylum, and the freind of a freind said he'd
been inside the place and heard noises and ran as fast as he could out
of the place and wouldn't go back inside. So when i heard about this place
(from a freind) I absolutely had to go check it out. Even just driving
by this place gives you a chilling feeling. The (house) sits near the top
of a hill and is obviously very very old. After having passed by this place
many times i decided to investigate the house one night about a year ago.
(basically dragging a few braves souls with me who were very reluctant
to enter this ominous building) but nevertheless i got them and myself
inside quite easily. The front door is broken in parts and you can get
in that way. I cannot even describe the vibe that I get (and obviously
others get) from this building. There's so much energy. I would never advise
to go into this place alone. The house is very very large and i didn't
even get to go into the very upstairs or the other (wing) of the house
due to the others i was with being scared out of their wits and would go
no further. But, i did get some pictures of what i did see of the house.
Some parts are very unstable, and as you can see one of the rooms actually
slid off the side of the house a bit and has trees and plants growing inside
of it. I saw nothing of the paranormal kind, but did hear music when i
had entered the house into the main room, very very faint music like the
type from a music box. Another freind of mine heard it also, so i knew
that it wasn't just me hearing it. It faded away though when we continued
walking and did not come back. Creepy Creepy place.
I
don't know if it is owned by anyone, it looked as though maybe somebody
was trying to do some rennovations but it could have just been leftover
from whatever the house/building was before. I tried to find records on
any insane asylum near there but couldn't find any. So it could have just
been a story passed down too many times.... but who knows.
This
place is located off of Jennings Station road exit in florissant, if you
continue down the main road there is a road to the right called McLaren
rd. If you follow this road a while and keep your eyes to the left, you
will definately know which house it is. I haven't been back to this place
since the pictures were taken... it's been a while, probably about a year.

After posting around I got some
info from someone who had also heard about the *Mental Hospital* in jennings/florissant.
So perhaps the stories weren't just (stories) after all. Gives me reason
to do somemore research though =) The place IS very creepy. Here's what
he had to say about it.
Well far As I know it was a mental
hospital, and supposedly people died inside and or killed themselves in
there. The upstairs is all carpeted and its just small rooms where it seems
some kids play or crack heads smoke their shit up there. The basement was
scary shit, it took me about the third trip to go down, but there is evidence
down there that proves it was a some kind of housing place either for the
mental or handcappped or elderly. There is some local leagon about a knife
that used to hang above the fireplace all the time and was never moved,
but what it was there for I have no idea. If you go there again drive to
the street right behind the place and walk up through the brush, to the
side door, and through the broken side window. TAKE friends with, Cuss
it is scary, plus not to friendly of a neiborhood.
