Thursday may the 26, 2005.

Main impression:
Namur visit.

Odor:
Not much wort mentionning today, I could mention the smell of fries but don't think of fries you get in downtown "Greasy spoon" where the smell of fat stay on your clothes for the rest of the day, we are in Belgium here, fries have nobility!

Color:
It's the fair art festival in Namur. It's full of colors, bleue, yellow, red and gold are panted on the tentsw and caravans.

Flavor:
I have been a cannibal today! Following the sugestion from Anne-Marie de Groot I ate an "Américain préparé" (prepared american). What is an "américain"? Well it's how they call "tartar steak" here, you could also say it's raw chopped steak, mixed with a raw egg, herbs and spices, served with salad and fries.

Sound:
The noise of my short breat while I was climbing to the castle.

Texture/sentation:
The "américain" texture.

Day summary:
Anne-Marie had to go to Namur in the afternoon and offered to give me a lift. In the morning I done some recherchs on the Internet and send an email to the London hotel to find my reservation confirmation number that I lost with my stolen stuff, I also had to add a day to my reservation. When I bought my ticket for the Eurostar the day before I found that it cost 260 euros for two nights but only 105 euros for three since it's considered the weekend. The difference pay for the extra night at the hotel.

Arriving in Namur, after finding a parking, Anne-Marie and me found a little place with somes trees and where many cafés put tables and chairs. Today is hot so we look for a spot in the shadow.

The "américain" is quite strange but good. After the meal Anne-Marie goes to her meeting and I start to explore Namur. The first stop is to buy a pen and a notepad. Yes, I'm lat in my journal since my PDA got stolen (I'm still late, I'm writing this in the train to London).

Visit of the Namur archeology museum and after a visit of the citadel. I went after to take a few well earned thirst quenching beers to the "Cave à bières". This place was recommanded for his choice of beers by "Le guide du routard" but didn't have anything exceptional. I took a "Blanche aux pommes" from the Bocq brewery to quench my thisrt followed by "Li cruchon" blond and the brown to finish.

I ate super after in a mexican resto, it was good but not spicy enough for my taste. In fact, the salsa for the corn chips was not spicy at all.

The Namur roofs viewed from below.

A bit of the citadel and the Meuse viewed through a window of the Namur archeology Museum.

The Meuse.

The Namur citadel.

The road that goes up to the citadel. The incline is not to steep but long!

Namur and the Meuse from above!.

Not easy to get in without invitation!.

I always had an affinity for photos where we could see something in the background through an arch or window.

An other theme that come often in my photos, stairways! Each time I find one that's original or where you see interesting angles and lines I can't help but get my camera out of my bag.

Fair time!.
