Saturday may the 21th, 2005.
Main impression:
The Charleroi salon "Les brasseurs de saveurs vous invitent" (the flavors brewers/mixer invite you).
Odor:
The sausages and cheeses that where also part of the exhibit!
Color:
Charleroi seems to be a gray town at first sight, I'm sorry that I didn't get the time to make myself a
second opinion.
Flavor:
The belgian beer made with maple sirup, less sweet than those I tasted in Quebec but the maple flavor is
very present. It's not the best beer I tasted there but I was surprised to come to Belgium and taste a
goud maple sirup beer.
Sound:
The lack of it since I don't have my diskman anymore!
Texture/sentation :
I'm a bit paranoid, I always have the impression that someone is following to attack me.
Day summary:
An interesting thing in Belgium is their railways system, you can go almost anywhere in a short time.
I heard some belgian complaining about the time accuraty of the trains but all strangers find them
perfect. Furthermore, Belgium is a very small country so it's easy to leave Brussels in the morning,
near the center, and to go anywhere in the country and get back in the evening.
So thats what I have done to visit Charleroi who is very close to Brussels. On first sight, we can't say
that Charleroi is ugly but we can't say it's butifull, specially if you compare with other town in Belgium.
it's a prosper industrial town.
At the salon, I did more "Talking" than "Tasting". I met the import agent for Unibroue products and
tasted his maple sirup beer, I also tasted maple sirup pie, he even had maple leaf cookies. I also met
few Americans and discuss with the owner of the
Abbaye des Rocs brewery. I also had a conversation with a Parisian coaster collector
and whent to take a last drink with him after the salon closed.
