Title of Water: Ohio River

Type of Water: __ stream _x_river __lake

Nearest Town, City: State: Wheeling, West Virginia

Description: The Ohio River goes right through the middle of this old steel town, with several bridges crossing the river. It is fast moving and dark bluish green. There are many trees and bushes near the edge, but access is difficult because the town is built high off the river. I gained access at a Yacht Club pier on the east side of the river. It was a rainy day.

The Ohio River had high scores on three of the water index factors. Its total water quality index score was 70.8 which is significantly better than other major rivers measured, such as the Mississippi. The score was lowered somewhat because of warmer temperatures.
