VEHICLE: Your travel vehicle must be ready for travel. How new
are the tires? We have six new tires on the motorhome for this trip. We
installed a new water pump, new hoses, and new batteries. Our dash air
conditioner was replaced and the motorhome air conditioner also, especially
since our travel will be in the American Southwest. In fact, we even have
a new refrigerator. We insulated the ceiling with a thick lining for insulation
and added new shelves to store all the computer gear.
ITINERARY: Gather as many maps ahead of time as possible. Each state has a tourist spot on the internet to get more info. Many states will send you brochures and maps from their internet site. We had to plan our itinerary to match the sites we wanted to see: Native American sites, geologic sites, rivers and lakes, historic sites. Also, we had to plan our itinerary to match campgrounds that have internet access available to campers, with local numbers on an internet service provider so no long distance bills were incurred.
The Internet site Campgrounds
with Internet Access has many suggested campgrounds to try on your
travels.
We have found the following campgrounds have modem access in our travels. We appreciate the managers/owners help at these sites in providing us access.
Cherokee KOA in Cherokee, NC - access in adult game room, unlimited
Nashville KOA in Nashville, TN - used the office upstairs
Hot Springs KOA in Hot Springs, Ark - access in game room
Carlsbad RV Park in Carlsbad, NM - used office phone access
More to be added as we find them.
Here are some of our favorite menus to use when traveling in
