This is the first football game for the NES, and it is based on the arcade game "10 Yard Fight" by Irem. Basically, you play the quarterback of a team, and the object is to outscore the other team in this bare-bones pigskin pak.
Gameplay:
There's not many options other than 1 or 2 players. In the 1p mode against the computer, you start at the high school level, then you move up through college and into the pro level. For the most part this game follows the standard American football rules. You run along toward the other team's end zone to score a touchdown while avoiding the other team. Each time the ball is snapped, you can either pass it to a receiver, or run with it. You have four downs to run at least 10 yards. On the fourth down, you can either go for a field goal or a punt. The defense tries to tackle you or block you offense.
NES Times Capsule Review:
You can easily tell this was the first pigskin title for the NES, and it basically has no chance against later titles. The graphics are very tiny with slow moving sprintes. The sounds consists of beeps and terrible crowd noise. There's hardly any challenge to this game and virtually no options except for the difficulty level. You can't even call plays or change players. There's no reason to choose this over Tecmo Super Bowl; leave this one on the sidelines.

Extremely bland football game. Avoid at all costs. 4/10
