Rushmore's Jason Schwartzman spins into an impressive ensemble in the indie drug flick Spun. Mickey Rourke, John Leguizamo, Mena Suvari, Patrick Fugit, Brittany Murphy and Peter Stormare are all on board for the film, which is being helmed by Madonna's "Ray of Light" video director, Jonas Akerlund, in his feature debut. Schwartzman stars as a methamphetamine user who stumbles into a series of mishaps with his dealer (Leguizamo) and the drug manufacturer (Rourke). Filming begins in May.
sounds interesting i guess. whatever happened to the keith moon and al pacino thing?

so my reign as the site of the month has ended. it was glorious while it lasted. a new show was announced. and once again, nowhere near me. *sigh* oh well.
03122001
you know, i'm not down with this school thing. man is it a lot of work. but, i'm getting my spring break soon. hooray for that! and i'm actually going somewhere. down to los angeles as a matter of fact. hooray for that again. just for a few days, though. then las vegas. that'll be super fun, too. i hear they have killer buffets there. that's what i'm talking about.
so phantom planet have finished all their tracks for album no.2. all that's left is the "stomach-dropping" remixing. that's what i'm talking about. you know what this means, don't you kids? it's showtime.
03022001
hey, guess what? for some strange reason, diane of fine on my own named my site as her site of the month. okay, i know you guys are all jealous. but don't let that green monster eat you up. it's not worth it :)
it's week five of the recording process for the guys, and it looks like they'r pretty much finished with the songs they want to lay down. one more left, i think. yay! that means possible shows coming up. and hopefully outside the la area. that'd be cool.
02162001
well, i found the xlr8r magazine. what was really weird, though, was that i saw it in tower a few weeks ago, and i was looking through it, and i totally missed the picture of alex. i think the pages were stuck together or something. but anyways, i looked through the whole thing, and i remembered saying to myself that the guy in this picture kinda looked like alex. you think? well, i put the actual pictures of alex on my pictures page.
02132001
hey- pitchers and catchers report to spring training this friday! can you believe that? that is so cool. anywho ....
i saw this picture of jason in entertainment weekly. apparently the title of the movie has changed back to slackers? okay, if the production company had kept that title in the FIRST place .... *sigh* so difficult, they are. but the little caption about the movie said that jason being in it makes it credible. wow. quite a compliment.
02082001
from the looks of the picture on the phan club site, looks like sam found his beanie. apparently he had it all along. silly guy. making us all worry over its well-being. gosh.
i scanned the picture of jason in gear magazine for those of you kids who haven't seen it yet. i'll put up the spin ones when i get the chance.
02032001
the official recording for phantom planet's new album has started, which means, no concerts for a while. but i don't care! i couldn't go to them anyways! but, yay for the new album! for all you fan club members, go to the fanclub site and vote to have the video available. i don't think that is gonna get voted down, though.
01242001
Happy new year's ..... to all those it applies to.
01172001
i just found out that michael "jason QT mcknight" cuccione from 2gether died on saturday. 8 days after his 16th birthday. that made me really sad.
in his memory ....
sam's beanie is missing. if you guys have any information as to its whereabouts, let suzanne know. gotta do the right thing, kids.
there is a little tiny bit of a mention of jason and alex in this month's issue of seventeen. or next month's issue of seventeen. the one that has carson on the front. there are actually two different covers for it. he looks like less of a tool on one of them than he does the other. "hi, my name is carson and i'm a massive tool." haha. anyways. it's not really worth getting if you're just getting it for the phantom planet thingy. very small. nothing you haven't seen before. not very flattering for alex. well, i mean, couldn't they have put in a picture where you can see his face?
new show was announced for groundhog's day. the powerful lineup of phantom planet, kara's flowers, and rooney. very nice.
01022001
look at that, it says 2001. doesn't that look kinda cool. think about it. babies that are being born are gonna have 2001 on their birth certificates. i mean, the rest of us were born in the 1900s. the 1900s! man is that weird. well, anyways. happy new year everybody!
so our beloved boys of phantom planet have finally gotten the go to record their album. perhaps starting at the end of the month? they're meeting with their produer, mitchell froom, i think is what it was, on sunday. oh, how exciting. a sophomore album, after, oh, what is it, two and a half years almost?
12092000
the sabrina, the teenage witch episode with phantom planet was on the upn thursday. i turned to it just in time to miss them. dawgawnnit. why is it that each time it has been on, i barely miss them, or i don't have a tape ready. so, uh, yeah ... i was pretty bummed about that.
so i went to a goldfinger concert a couple saturdays ago. that was pretty fun. they played a really short set, though, so that kinda sucked. like less than an hour or something like that. john feldman's parents came, cause he grew up "like 10 minutes from here," so that was cool. you would figure he would tone down his potty mouth, but no such luck. e.g. (talking about kelly, bass player) "kelly hasn't gotten laid in, what is it kelly? a couple years? so kelly comes up to me one day, and he says to me, john, what's wrong, why is my d*ck orange? and i told him, dude, you can't watch porno and eat cheetos at the same time." nyuck, nyuck, nyuck. but this band called mest opened up for them, and they were pretty cool. so the night wasn't a complete bummer. except that the club was tiny, and i was standing in the back, and couldn't see much. milk is doing me no good.
12022000
so apparently the title of jason's movie has been changed to the undergrads? that's what it says, at least. i mean, that's what the caption says on jason's picture. it's a very snazzy looking picture, i think. here's what it says in the upper left-hand corner:
Jason Schwartzman
In his cinematic debut and one of 1998's most complex performances, as Max Fischer in Wes Anderson's Rushmore, the now 20 year-old Jason Schwartzman saved Latin and launched a career. This spring Schwartzman returns as another scheming, tortured old soul in Dewey Nick's The Undergrads.
then it says stuff about what he's wearing. and that's about it.
11282000
wow. it's been more than a month since i've been in here. nothing newsworthy though, really, i think. jason is gonna be in the next issue of GQ. or it might already be out. charlize theron is on the cover. i haven't actually seen it yet, but i was watching e! news daily, and jules asner said that he's in it. or at least i think i heard his name. i heard her say jason schwartzman and devon sawa, that makes sense, right? she called them "hollywood hot property." but i'm not sure. worth checking out though, i guess.
10212000
the 1-2 schwartzman punch is gonna be back together for another show in november. how exciting. i'm trying to put off working on my presentation, which probably isn't a good idea. but i can't help it. i mean, the computer is right there! but i'll get back to it ... soon enough. i discovered a couple days ago that my pp logo button is missing from my backpack. that completely ruined my day. isn't it just terrible?
10172000
another show was announced, and it's on thursday, kids! that's right, this thursday. hope you didn't have any plans. school night, schmool night.
i hear that alex's movie, donnie darko is ready to be screened at the end of this month and early next month. out of the country, though. but that's still pretty cool, eh?
10152000
the official phantom planet phanclub page is opening its doors sometime today. isn't it exciting kids? the page will be free to view at www.phantomplanetfamily.com
for this week to family members and non-members alike. i don't know what it is, but the more i type the word "family," the weirder it looks. darn funky english language.
phantom planet and ben lee at the roxy tomorrow, i know you guys didn't forget.
