The Gastropod's Trail | home
Friday, 18 May
Budapest, Hungary to Gyongyos, Hungary
After the big city we enjoyed traveling again. Now it was away from the plain and along the Matra mountains. The closer we cam to the mountains the more we were into oak forests and in mid-afternoon we spotted a clearing off the road which must be a scout camp during the summertime. Now it was empty and inviting for two gastropodians. We had enough time to set up camp and to start a nice fire before a sudden thunderstorm put an end to our outdoor activities. (Good scout I am, the campfire survived the storm and we could cook our sausages over the still glowing embers)
Addendum 19/05/2001: In the sheltered place we had spent the night we did not realize just how violent the storm last night was. Today, as we drove along the road through the forest we saw much damage caused by the wind with many torn branches and uprooted small trees.
