| Grand Duchess Elizabeth was the sister of empress Alexandra and the widow of the late Grand Duke Sergey Alexandrovich (who was murdered in 1905 by a terrorist bomb). When her husband died she founded the convent of Sisters of Mercy of Martha and Mary and became it's Abbess. In 1918 she had to leave the convent accompanied by another sister. She joined Grand Duke Sergey Mikhailovich (cousin of the emperor), the three sons of the late Grand Duke Constantine Constantinovich: Princes Ioan, Igor and Constantine, and Prince Vladimir Pavlovich Paley (son of the morganatic marriage of Grand Duke Paul Alexandrovich). They were all throw down a mineshaft in Alapayevsk, Ural Mountains, July 18 1918. | ||

| The four Grand Dukes: Paul Alexandrovich (the emperor's uncle), Dimitri Constantinovich (cousin of the emperor) and the two brothers Nicholas and George Mikhailovich (cousins of the emperor), were all imprisoned in the St. Peter & Paul fortress and shot there on January 30 1918. | ||
