Conductor & Musical Director - Sean Miller

Sean has been at the helm of the band for one year now and the band have flourished under his influence. Sean is a brilliant Jazz pianist and his experience in the field of jazz is second to none. An ex student of Huddersfield it is a great pleasure to welcome back 'one of our own' to guide us forward as a band.

Saxes

Alto 1 - Steve Blythe.

Steve has been studying at Huddersfield for four years and has just completed his Masters in Performance. He is leader of the Sax section and is currently teaching saxophone in schools in Chesire and plays for the Glenn Miller band in Blackpool Tower. Steve is also a member of the Metamorphosis Jazz Quartet.

Alto 2 - Michelle Thompson

Michelle has rejoined the band this year following a year in france teaching English, it is a pleasure to have Michelle back in the band and her playing is a credit to the band as a whole.

Tenor 1 - Richard Clarke.

Richard usually features heavily as a soloist with the band, Richard is a talented musician, and major part of the band, he is also a member of the Metamorphosis Jazz Quartet where he is usually found playing sax although sometimes ventures across to the piano.

Tenor 2 - Jo Boothroyd

Jo has been with the band for three years and is a talented clarinettist as well as a saxophonist, she recently featured with the band, playing Artie Shaw's Concerto for clarinet.

Baritone Sax - Marc Dunleaey.

Marc joined the band this year and took up the baritone seat when Helen Murry left us last year. Marc has provided the band with a new sense of power with his powerful yet stylish baritone sound.

Trumpets

Trumpet 1 - Justin 'Judd' Down

Judd has been with the band since its reformation and has featured as soloist many many times, Judd lives and breathes Jazz and has been known to walk home from the pub blowing away on numerous occasions. Judd loves the band and the band loves him back in return, his passion to be the best encourages all the band and we will welcome judd any time he wishes to join the band in the future. Judd is also a guest soloist with the Metamorphosis Jazz Ensemble.

Trumpet 2 - Jo Harrison
Jo has been with the band for three years and has played flugel as well as trumpet. She recently featured with the band playing, 'A child is born'.

Trumpet 3 - Chris Dowding.

Chris is another new addition to the band and is currently working towards taking over as soloist when Judd leaves, He has already established a reputation as a good 'Jazzer' as judd would put it, and is a valued member of the band.

Trumpet 4 - Maddy Cottam

Maddy joined the band this year and has brought many many qualities, everyone seems to like maddy especially Judd(cant think why? (.)(.) and she relishes the opportuities to perform and socialise with the band, Maddy is great fun and and great player and the band benefits from the qualities she brings, cheers maddy.

Trumpet 5 - Andrew Carroll

Andy looks like a quite shy bloke, WRONG, he is usually found roaring at the front of a very good heavy rock/metal band, but he does have a more mellow side as a great Jazz trumpeter, pianist and composer. Andy is a great member of the band, despite being a geordie, he is a valued addition to the band both musically and socially.

Trombones

Prinipal Trombone - Tobias Newman

Toby has been with the band for three years and has taken the Solo chair this year, he has amazed the band and audience with his vertuosity on the trombone in solo's including The Green Flag, and many more. Sadly toby is leaving us this year but we will welcome his return for the concert in October. Many thanks Toby.

Trombone 2 - Chris Hibbard

Chris Joined the band this year and has already staked his claim on the Solo chair, featuring in a number of solo's with the band, when toby lets him, and is set to take over when Toby leaves us at the end of this year.

Trombone 3 - Richard Everson

Not sure why Steve and Richard are so close in this picture!? but Richard is the Ginger haired guy, Richard brings an eccentric quality to the band and usually keeps us amused with his baffling comments in rehearsals.

Bass Trombone - Peter Pimperton

Peter has been with the band for two years, replacing Steve Drew, and has supported the band both in playing capacities and in promotion, although peter has a habit of forgetting rehearsals when he is here he is a big part of the band. (joking mate)

Rhythm Section

Piano - Elaine Moehle

Elaine joined the band in 2000 and has been a credit to the band, her jazz playing has improved dramatically since Sean joined the band and It is a pleasure to have her playing with us.

Bass - Marco Faldetta

Marco lives to play bass, he is a funky Italian who despite trying to be fasionable never quite manages it. He is the driving force behind the band and his passion for playing is clear in all his performences. Marco also plays for the Metamorphosis Jazz Quartet.

Drums & Percussion - Jason Poulston.

Jason has managed the band since its reformation three years ago and has played drums with the band for all of this time, Jason's passion for promoting the band has no limits and he will do anything to make the band succeed. Recent audiences show all this effort has been worthwhile. Jason is also a member of the Metamorphosis Jazz Quartet.
