The above photograph shows Thomas Cobley, his wife Annie Morris, and their
two eldest children, Thomas Wyndom and Mary Elizabeth. Taken about 1886.
Thomas emigrated to the U.S. in the late 1870s. Gerald Cobley has given me
information that shows Thomas was married in Wales and had a son. Both his
wife and son died in 1874 and 75. So I assume that is why he left Wales for a
new life in the USA. He settled in Colorado and worked in the Coal Mines
for at least 25 years. I have a gold pin that was given to him for 25 yrs of
service by the Colorado Fuel and Iron Co. This was the company that ran the
mines he worked for. He married a girl named Annie Morris who had emigrated
from Wales when she was a child. They had seven children.
