Agnes Mitchell was the seventh child of William Owen Mitchell and Isa Izon Bickley.

She joined her husband E.A.Fred Compton in Southern Cross after her marriage in 1890, bearing G.S.Compton and a retinue of girls there and elsewhere in the goldfields. They moved to Coolgardie in 1896.

She was the mother of two sons and four daughters:

Agnes Mitchell died in Perth in 1951.
